Friends of Pool 9: 2-Days of Free Refuge 100th Anniversary Events – Public Matinee plus Evening of Live Music
Friends of Pool 9 – Upper Miss Refuge Inc., is pleased to be a leader in celebrating the centennial year of our widely enjoyed refuge. After being selected National Wildlife Refuge Friends Group of the Year in 2009, we have continually expanded and strengthened a wide variety of actions to achieve our mission: To help conserve the cultural and natural resources on the refuge, and to foster wise public use and year-long enjoyment of this refuge.
No fee is charged for membership. But members work closely with our partners and supporters to “get things done.” At this time we are proud to offer our first 2 days of free celebration events featuring outstanding live performances.
The venue for both days (with capacity of 350+) is TJ Hunters Banquet Hall, 377 Main Street, Lansing, Iowa; with lunch, dinner and cash bar on Saturday. Visit: www.friendsofpool9.org, see the back cover of Big River, or call 563-419-4991 for more details.
2 – 4 pm: A Visit from Will Dilg Who Led Establishment of the Refuge, plus Scenes from film Our Mighty Mississippi by Steven Marking.
7 pm – Close: Live River and Driftless Area Music by highly popular Jon “Hawk” Stravers and Big Blue Sky
